If the new F1 aero truly allows for closer running. I'm so looking forward to this years season. And once again maybe we'll see the drivers from the cars. ;-)
  • He's done him, yeah.

@Scotty: Spot-on. There's a lot of people who love to knock Lewis, but I defy anyone to watch this video and not see the level of talent and ability there. There's another video on YT of his fightback through the field in Turkey 2006, where he spun at the start and had to pass virtually the entire field to finish on the podium. Search for 'GP2 on fire'.

I suspect that his team ran his car with about half the amount of rear wing than his rivals for extra top speed, simply because he is so confident under braking and completely comfortable with a tail-happy car. I'm not sure that principle applies in F1, since the aero is (or was) much more complex, but he's still the latest of the late brakers and one of the very few drivers who likes a loose car at the rear.

Agreed. A lot of people give Lewis or "Token" as he is rather cruelly referred to, a rough time as he got all the best equipment blah blah blah but the man is a very very special driver, especially under brakes. Also a wonderful driver to watch given his love of oversteer.

    Great video.

I know, it's a mystery to me why Max, Bernie and the PTB haven't just slavishly copied much of the GP2 rulebook with regards to aero, proportions and the like and applied it to F1. GP2 with bigger engines would be perfect.

Those early GP2 seasons delivered some of the most exciting single-seater racing I can remember. You'd have to say the drivers who shone in them have also proved to be pretty special. Perhaps the key to cheap(er) and more exciting racing in F1 is simply to abandon the fugly 09 cars and put the F1 drivers in GP2...
