One of the most spectacular (and risky) overtakes in F1, we’ve found a vid with the preceeding lap on it so you can see what a huge gap Mika ‘the only driver Schumacher feared’ Hakkinen makes up in just one lap, and remind yourself how much better the unlimited, pneumatic-valved, constantly-variable inlet-trumpetted V10s sounded than the new V8s.

    I must have seen this clip a hundred times and so that move looks like the obvious choice, the only possible move that Hakkinen could have made, yet at the time ... wow.

    Everyone went ballistic. Such an audacious move at incredibly high speed - to go 3-up at 200mph takes big, big cherries. The post-race press conference is wonderful, too:

    "...I took the Plan B and I went completely inside and I overtook the backmarker and I overtook the Michael."

    Mika, you're a legend.
